Biblical Athens & Ancient Corinth Tour

First thing to do on this superb full day tour is to visit the Acropolis Hill, before the crowds and the heat begin to rise. The Acropolis, which was the cult center of the pagan city of Athens at the time of St. Paul made him feel how important it was to start preaching right after he arrived in the city by boat at the bay of Phaliron.

There you will be able to explore the magnificent gate of Propylaea, the Temple of the wingless Nike, the Erectheion with the Karyatides, and last but not least the masterpiece of Classical architecture, the Parthenon. The Acropolis, meaning the highest edge of the city gives you the chance to enjoy a panoramic view of the theater of Dionysus, the Odeum of Herodes Atticus, the Ancient Greek Agora, the modern city of Athens and even the port of Piraeus.

After the Acropolis, we will walk on the engraved steps of Mars Hill that used to lead to the altar dedicated to the unknown God that St. Paul took to reach the top and give his Speech. This tour could never be considered complete without visiting the Ancient Greek Agora where the Synagogue used to exist, and where St. Paul chose to go and preach. It is time to leave behind the city center driving westwards. You will see the point where St. Paul arrived in Athens by boat in 51 A.D.

From there we will continue westwards. Lay back in our comfortable and air conditioned vehicle and enjoy the magnificent Greek coastal scenery along the Athenian coastline. After a short and easy ride, comes our first stop, the engineering Marvel of the 19th Century Corinth Canal that cuts the solid rock and links with its 6km length the Ionian Sea and the Corinthian Gulf with the Aegean Sea and the Saronic Gulf thus creating a safe and practical passage.

After our 30minute stop on the Corinth Canal and of course after taking our time to snap some breathtaking pictures and get some rest on the nearby rest area café, your chauffer will drive you through the winding country local roads through olive trees, vineyards and orange trees that grow in abundance in the area. It will feel as if you stepped into the scenery that one sees only in artistic movies and documentaries. 20 minutes later we will arrive at the next stop of our exploration, the city of Ancient Corinth.

The Ancient Corinth used to be a city that was a powerful and strategic center where numerous historic, cultural and religious events have taken place. St. Paul spent about a year and a half and gave his Speech in the center of the Ancient Agora on the renowned Bema and was joined by his followers Priscilla, Aquila, Timothy and Sylla. This historic event became the foundation of the Christian Church in the region. We will see there the Roman Forum. The majority of the archaeological ruins that we can see nowadays date back to the Roman Period, the era that Saint Paul was visiting Corinth.

Take your time and walk in the city as St. Paul did. During our tour you will also find the spring of Glauke, the fountain of Pinene and discover the myths hidden behind their waters, the market place, the theater, the Odeon and several other Roman buildings while at the same time gaining an in depth understanding of the city’s prominence. The Archaeological Museum is of great interest since it is a great introductory to the famous Corinthian pottery and Mosaic Art.
